A New Vision of STEAM

At STVM, STEAM education is not defined by STEAM disciplines - it is the way we educate. A STVM education is innovative, rooted in real-world problems, and prepares students for their futures through rigorous, transdisciplinary instruction. Students learn to think critically through our design thinking process, applying it through collaboration with their peers, faculty, and community partners to tackle authentic problems. A STEAM education at STVM, when combined with our Marianist Characteristics of Education, is Profoundly Human.

Our students explore and excel through unique, nationally recognized opportunities including FIRST Tech Challenge Robotics, the NASA Student Launch Challenge, the NASA Microgravity Research Team (by NASA selection), the University of Akron STEM Research Program, and our award-winning science and rocket teams. These experiences give students the skills and confidence to thrive in college and beyond.

Best-in-Class STEAM Facilities

Our campus features several dynamic spaces designed for creativity and exploration: the Center for Science and Technology, The Greenhouse on Green Street, and the Pam Godshalk MakerSpace for prototyping and fabrication. STVM students present their innovations at prestigious competitions like the Northeastern Ohio Science and Engineering Fair and the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair, often collaborating with academic experts locally and around the globe.

At STVM, we honor our Catholic tradition while preparing students to shape the future. Our STEAM program is more than a designation—it’s a commitment to excellence in authentic, innovative, best-practice teaching and learning.

STEM Scholars Program

The STVM STEM Scholars Program is an invitation-only, four-year, immersive academic experience designed to move students beyond learning about STEM and into becoming scientists, engineers, researchers, and innovators. Through research, engineering design, university partnerships, business collaboration, and mentorship, students develop the technical skills, professional habits, and intellectual curiosity required to thrive in college-level STEM environments and future careers.

By graduation, STEM Scholars leave not only with knowledge, but with published research, prototype designs, professional presentations, and a network of academic and industry partners.

The STEM Scholars Cohort (10–15 students per class) is a four-year honors STEM formation program extended by invitation only to top scholars in each incoming class at STVM. Students selected for this prestigious cohort possess outstanding academic credentials, top performance on the High School Placement Test and a demonstrated passion for STEM coursework, activities or fields of study. Key experiences include:
