STVM OFFICIALLY UNVEILED VANDEVERE AUTOMOTIVE FAMILY STADIUM WITH RIBBON-CUTTING
August 6, 2026
St. Vincent-St. Mary High School officially unveiled the newly enhanced VanDevere Automotive Family Stadium during a community ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, Aug. 5, celebrating a significant investment in the school's athletic facilities.
The event marked the completion of the first phase of improvements made possible through STVM's partnership with the VanDevere Automotive Family. The enhancements include a brand-new synthetic turf field, new stadium branding, an upgraded fan experience, and the official dedication of the renamed stadium while continuing to honor the legacy of the John Cistone Field.
Representatives from the City of Akron and the Mayor’s Office will join school leaders, members of the STVM Executive Board, the VanDevere family, coaches, alumni, donors, sponsors, community partners, and supporters for the celebration. “This historic partnership and investment marks a defining moment for us,” said David Vitatoe, President, St. Vincent-St. Mary High School. “It advances our bold vision to pair our rich tradition with future-focused innovation, creating exceptional opportunities and enhanced facilities to meet the needs of our growing enrollment.”
The ceremony included a blessing of the new field, official ribbon cutting and remarks from school and community leaders, and was then followed by the President's Reception.
The VanDevere Automotive Family Stadium naming partnership was announced in 2025 and represents a long-term investment supporting campus improvements and the overall student experience.
