PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Strength and Conditioning Coach shall have responsibility for the design and implementation of strength training and conditioning programs in-season, off-season, and pre-season for all school-sanctioned male and female athletic programs. The Strength and Conditioning Coach will schedule, attend, and supervise all after school weight training programs.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Design and implement strength training and conditioning programs for all school-sanctioned athletic programs
- Develop training schedules
- Attend and supervise all after school weight training programs
- Oversee all weight training classes during the school day
- Responsible for the overall management of the Costigan weight room
- Devote full attention to student-athletes during workouts
- Work in cooperation with sports medicine or athletic training staff in the rehabilitation and strengthening of injured athletes
- Facilitate collaboration among sport coaches, sports medicine, and strength and conditioning staff
- Design and implement policies and procedures in accordance with NSCA Strength and Conditioning Professional Standards Guidelines
- Develop systems for tracking athlete attendance and progress
- Conduct annual needs analysis for each team in collaboration with coaches and athletic trainers
- Complete an annual budget proposal including maintenance, equipment, and staffing needs
- Reinforce expectations for athlete conduct aligned with the Student Code of Conduct
- Oversee strength and conditioning social media platforms to highlight student-athletes
- Develop, maintain, and share a Google strength and conditioning calendar
- Establish and communicate weight room rules and expectations
- Encourage team participation in weight training year-round
- Communicate program objectives to coaches and athletes
- Manage and monitor coach certifications, renewals, and applications
- Organize special events, banquets, signing days, and speaker events
- Coordinate and collect information for summer camps
- Maintain and prepare necessary game day and in-season materials and rosters
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology or related field (preferred)
- NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist® (CSCS®) or equivalent certification
- Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications
- Strong knowledge of strength training techniques and program design
- Experience working with high school athletes
- Strong organizational, communication, and motivational skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and the public
- Knowledge of NSCA standards and universal hygiene precautions
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Work in office, school, and athletic environments
- Ability to visually monitor athletes
- Prolonged standing, walking, and sitting
- Use of hands and fingers regularly
- Ability to demonstrate exercises and techniques
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds
TRAVEL REQUIRED:
- Travel to school buildings, events, and meetings as needed
