Spanish Teacher

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
  • Develop and implement curriculum plans and show written evidence of preparation as required.
  • Prepare lessons that accommodate individual student differences.
  • Create lesson plans that engage, stimulate, and instruct students.
  • Use appropriate instructional strategies, materials, and equipment tailored to student needs.
  • Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for students with IEPs.
  • Remain flexible and adaptive to change.
  • Integrate technology into instruction and classroom management.
  • Consistently assess student achievement through formal and informal testing.
  • Present a positive role model that supports the mission of the school.
  • Create and maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Manage student behavior and administer discipline per school policy and IEPs.
  • Communicate regularly with students and parents.
  • Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and the community.
  • Demonstrate professional, ethical, and responsible behavior.
  • Attend faculty meetings and serve on committees as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
  • Valid Ohio teaching certificate in Spanish.
  • Ability to help all students meet 21st-century knowledge and skills, including state academic standards.
  • Expertise in the Spanish language.
  • General knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
  • Ability to instruct and manage student behavior effectively.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Prior high school Spanish teaching experience preferred.
  • Must complete VIRTUS certification and FBI/BCI background check.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally.
