Dan Rooney

Head Wrestling Coach

Coach Dan Rooney has been actively involved in the wrestling for over 30 years. An Akron native, Dan wrestled for the North Akron Wrestling Club from ages 7-14, where he was a three-time youth state placer and a two-time state champion. He went on to start varsity as a freshman on the #2 nationally ranked Walsh Jesuit Warriors team. He was a 1998 State Champion and 2000 State Runner-up for the Warriors.

Graduating with an athletic scholarship, Coach Rooney attended Adams State University in Alamosa, Colorado. After returning home to Ohio following multiple shoulder surgeries, he continued to pursue wrestling through coaching. Over the last 10 years, Coach Rooney has coached many State qualifiers, placers, finalists, and a State Champion at Canton McKinley, Canal Fulton Northwest, and St. Vincent-St. Mary as an assistant coach. Over the past three years while at STVM, Coachg Rooney has also been involved in the Shamrock Youth Wrestling Club. He is very honored and proud to step in as the new Head Wrestling Coach at St. Vincent St. Mary.
