STVM Welcomes Three Guatemalan Exchange Students from October to December

Oct 16, 2019

On Monday, October 21, STVM will welcome three exchange students from Guatemala through the Faces & Our Cultures Ambassador Program. They will be with us until December 15.

Faces & Our Cultures is a cultural exchange program from Guatemala that seeks to connect young, cultural ambassadors between the ages of 10 to 17 with schools in the United States. The goal of the ambassador program is to build connections and foster relationships amongst the students, develop future leaders from both Guatemala and the U.S. and promote friendships and cultural exchanges between the two countries.

The Guatemala exchange students are committed to pursuing the cultural enrichment of both cultures within an educational environment. In order to achieve this enrichment, the young ambassadors prepare five projects about the Hispanic culture to share with the educational community that they are immersed in, including a presentation about their home country, a video documentary, a photo mural to be displayed in the school, a Spanish lesson to be delivered at a local elementary school and a food preparation class featuring their favorite Guatemalan dish. The host schools are also given the opportunity to send their own students to Guatemala during summer break in order to take part in the program as the cultural ambassadors to Guatemala.

Help us in welcoming these three students into the STVM Family for the next few months! Learn more about each student below:
