STVM Unveils House System for 2020-2021 School Year
Sep 16, 2019
We are excited to share with you the unveiling of our “House System,” a strategic plan created to enhance the overall student experience. The House System allows for students to individually develop in their faith, leadership, community and service. It establishes new opportunities for the growth and formation of relationships with peers across all grade levels, which organically increases a student’s sense of identity and belonging.
This initiative is in alignment with STVM’s mission statement as well as the Marianist charisms that provide the foundation for the school’s beliefs and daily practices. “We are excited to see the positive impact that the House System will create for our entire school community. Our focus in planning this has been to provide our students with an intentional educational and social experience that allows them to thrive during their four years at STVM and beyond. The House system will undoubtedly transform the student experience at our school,” said STVM Principal Kim Gorr.
STVM students and faculty members will be assigned into four distinct Houses. Each House will have its own unique characteristics: namesake, crest, colors, Scripture, and symbols. Each House will be led by one faculty member (House Dean), several teachers (Mentor Group Leader) and several student leaders. Student/faculty steering and development of the details of the House system will occur during the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. The official implementation of it will begin at the start of the 2020-2021 school year.
