STVM Meal Ministry Program Engages Students & Staff With Local Community
Nov 18, 2019
Did you know that STVM has a meal ministry?
We make our commitment to the hungry and the homeless with food preparation as our personal connection to people in immediate need. On the first Wednesday of each month, we prepare 200 brown bag lunches for the homeless in the Greater Akron area. Students and staff join to make these meals in a spirit of solidarity and fellowship.
The meal ministry allows our students, faculty & staff, alumni, and friends of St. Vincent-St. Mary to directly serve the immediate needs of the poor the first Wednesday of each month throughout the year. The ministry allows students to see and experience the struggles of our homeless friends in the greater Akron area.
This ministry is powerful as our students help prepare the meal, meet, and serve our poor brothers and sisters by coming to them at the local homeless shelters in our backyard. Students hand-deliver food, clothing, hygiene kits, etc. to those we visit. This helps to instill in our students that every human being has dignity and that we should be preferential in charity to the poorest among us.
The monthly cost of this program is $300 and we hope you will consider an exciting underwriting opportunity of the St. Vincent-St. Mary Meal Ministry Program. We hope you will join us in our efforts to help people in need from our community.
