STVM Community Plants Tree in Memory of Taylor Ceepo VM15

Sep 30, 2019

On Saturday, September 28, St. Vincent-St. Mary celebrated the life of Taylor Ceepo VM15. Taylor's family, friends, teammates and the STVM and Hoban Soccer teams gathered at the 50 yard line to come together as one in honor of Taylor. Taylor's life was celebrated through a moment of silence and a prayer by STVM Campus Minister Christine Spinner. Speeches were made by STVM President Tom Carone, STVM Girls Soccer Head Coach (Taylor's coach) Jud Hartman and Taylor's friend and current Assistant Girls Soccer Coach MaryBeth Thomas. The Ceepo family was then presented with Taylor's STVM Soccer jersey in a special frame.

The ceremony shifted to the scoreboard area of the stadium where a tree was planted in memory of Taylor. The tree acts as a symbol for Taylor - may the memory of her continue to grow and never be gone. The evening concluded with a prayer from Fr. Norman Douglas from St. Vincent de Paul.

We would like to thank everyone who gathered in support of Taylor, the Ceepo family and the STVM community. 50% of all gate ticket sales will go to the Taylor Paige Ceepo Memorial Fund.

In May of 2019, Taylor passed away unexpectedly at the age of 22 while she was running the Cleveland Half Marathon. Her death was caused primarily by undiagnosed cardiomyopathy. Taylor was an outstanding student graduating from Walsh University and preparing for medical school, a life-long dream. The friendships she made through high school, college and her club soccer team were priceless to her. Taylor’s smile and upbeat personality brought love and joy to everyone that she touched.
