Monica Pirie VM14 Shares Passion of Art with STVM Students
Nov 20, 2019
On Wednesday, November 13, Monica Pirie VM14 worked with our art club students to show them the process of foam carving. Monica recently completed some of her final projects at the Myer's School of Art at the University of Akron by doing large foam carvings. She used different carving tools along with a variety of chemicals and materials to achieve unique textures and finishes on the foam before finally adding paint to them for color. Monica lead our students through a smaller version of her process, and each student was able to carve and texture their own 2x1 foot piece of foam. She was also able to shed some light on what it's like attending college for art.
We would like to thank Monica for spending time with our students and for sharing her passion with them! #IrishForever
