Local History Students Explore Akron's Canal History at Cascade Locks Park

Sep 12, 2019

Mr. Boarman's Local History class explored the Cascade Locks on North Street today on their first walking tour of the semester. The last few weeks, they have been examining Akron's early history and the impact that the Ohio & Erie Canal had on the original town's creation and growth into one of the fastest growing cities by the turn of the Century.

Local History was started at STVM in 2017 as a way to pass on the vibrant history that surrounds our school to the next generation. This helps to create passionate and loyal citizens that we hope will care for and help our city thrive in the future.
