An Important Message from STVM President Tom Carone

Feb 08, 2019

Dear Members of the STVM Community,

I write to you today with some important news about our school’s leadership. Our Principal, Mr. Robert Brownfield, has announced that beginning with the 2019-20 school year, he will be returning to our teaching faculty as a full-time classroom teacher. He has made this decision as a result of his desire to work more closely with students in the classroom on a daily basis, as he will tell you that interacting with young people is the prime reason he chose the field of education.

During his three years as Principal, Mr. Brownfield has done much to promote and advance our school. His leadership has been a true blessing to our school community, as he has worked tirelessly to ensure that our two primary areas of focus, Catholic values and excellent academics, remain strong. Under his leadership, STVM earned the prestigious Ohio Department of Education STEM designation, highlighting the strength of our programming in not only the core STEM areas, but also in the arts and humanities. He also was instrumental in STVM embracing our new Marianist sponsorship and worked closely with me throughout that multi-year process.

As an alumnus himself, and with 11 years of service to STVM, Mr. Brownfield’s Irish loyalty runs deep. His love for STVM is evident to all who interact with him. It has been an honor to work alongside Mr. Brownfield to lead our school. While we will certainly miss his direct role as our school’s Principal, he is very excited to return to the classroom, and his future students are the true beneficiaries.

In Mr. Brownfield’s own words: “I have loved being STVM’s Principal. This is everything I’ve ever wanted to do, and I am so grateful to have had the opportunity. Now, though, I feel a strong calling to return to the classroom because my identity is in teaching. It is what I do and who I am.”

We will be forming a search committee in the very near future that will be tasked with finding our next Principal. Mr. Brownfield will serve out the rest of the academic year as Principal and is committed to preparing for a smooth transition for our next Principal. His term as Principal will officially end on June 30, 2019.

Please join me in thanking Mr. Brownfield for his leadership, his service to our school, and his dedication to the STVM community.
