David Giffels VM82 and Mayor Dan Horrigan VM81 Speak to STVM Local History Students

Oct 18, 2017

We would like to thank two highly respected alumni for taking time out of their day to come in to speak to Mr. Boarman's Local History students. On Thursday, October 5, David Giffels VM82 came in to speak about the history of the rubber industry and the impact that it still has on Akron today as a city.

On Thursday, October 12, Mayor of Akron and former STVM teacher Dan Horrigan VM81 spoke to the students about his personal journey to become Mayor, where the city is now, and where he envisions the city going. Mayor Horrigan's Deputy Chief of Staff, Annie Ochsenhirt McFadden VM00, also spoke to the students about the direction that Akron is going in.

Both speakers engaged with our students, allowing them to ask questions and converse about a wide range of topics. Thank you to these two for taking time out of their day to spend it with our students in order to give them a better understanding of the past, present, and future of Akron!
