Congratulations to the Inaugural Class of STVM Student Ambassadors!

Sep 15, 2017

On Tuesday, September 12, 2017, our Irish family joined in celebration and prayer in recognition of the inaugural class of The St.Vincent-St. Mary Student Ambassador Leadership program. Fr. Norm Douglas led us in a meaningful and poignant prayer service planned by retired and beloved St. Vincent-St. Mary teachers Mrs. Anne Bickett and Mrs. Merrylou Windhorst. Father Norm blessed the green and gold striped ties that were presented to our student Ambassadors. Father Norm reminded our Irish Ambassadors that the ties represent their personal acceptance of the duties and responsibilities of servant leadership. Our students were challenged to be their best self and missionary of God’s mission of service when carrying the St. Vincent-St. Mary ideals of service and leadership beyond our school walls.

The 146 Student Ambassadors were chosen based upon personal recommendations of the Admission Department, drawing upon records of consistent academic performance, proven dedication to community service, exemplary behavior and strong school spirit. Participants were evaluated for their ability to work independently as well as members of a team. The Student Ambassador Leadership Program was created by Seniors Vince Glidden and Owen Presper as an opportunity for students to further develop leadership skills and extend the outreach of St. Vincent-St. Mary beyond our school boundaries.

The Student Ambassador program is under the direction of student-elected faculty advisors, Mrs. Nannette Roberts and Ms. Abby Diamond. Mrs. Ruby Kofsky and Mrs. Kristine Rosenfeld were chosen to serve as parent advisors for the 2017-2018 school year. Our faculty and parent advisors are committed to the St. Vincent-St. Mary mission of leadership and service.

Applications for 2018-2019 Student Ambassador Positions will be available when students return to school after Christmas break.
