STVM Students Compete at NEOSEF and District Science Fairs
During the week of March 13th-18th students from STVM participated in The Northeastern Ohio Science and Engineering Science Fair (NEOSEF) as well as the District 5 Science Fair. Both fairs were in person this year after a 3 year span of virtual fairs due to the Coronavirus.
NEOSEF was held on the Cleveland State University campus on March 14th with the awards ceremony being held on March 16th. Both Sara Street and Mason Reiss received 3rd place for their projects in the category of 11th-12th grade Chemistry. Dylan Bosley received Honorable Mention for his project in the category of 11th-12th Environmental Engineering. Along with category awards each student was awarded a special award by a local scientific entity. Both Mason and Dylan received the ASM International-Cleveland Chapter Award and Sara was awarded with the Iota Sigma Pi- Fluorine Chapter, Cleveland Award.
The 75th annual Western Reserve District 5 Science Fair was held at the University of Akron on Saturday, March 18th. Scoring a rating of Excellent was Senior- Sara Streett and Juniors- Dylan Bosley and Mason Reiss. All 3 students also won sponsored awards.Sara won the American Society of Civil Engineers Award ($100), Dylan won the American Chemical Society Akron Chapter Award ($50), and Mason won the Akron Council of Engineering and Scientific Societies Award ($50), as well as the ASM International Materials Information Society Award ($100).
These students will also be attending the BEST Medicine Science and Engineering Fair on April 29th at Cleveland State University. Congratulations on all the successes these students have already accomplished this year and good luck to them at the BEST Medicine Fair.
