Emily Buehrle Boarman VM05
Mrs. Emily Buehrle Boarman is a full-time counselor and is assigned to the classes of 2023 and 2021. She will assist students with personal, social, academic, and career counseling. She will work with students through individual, small group, and classroom counseling lessons. Mrs. Boarman is the coordinator of the Career Connections Fair.
Mrs. Boarman attended Canisius College for her undergraduate degree in Psychology with a minor in Child, Family, and Community Studies. She then attended The University of Akron for her graduate degree in School Counseling.
Ms. Christa Hovey is a full-time counselor and is assigned to the classes of 2020 and 2022. She will assist students with personal, social, academic, and career counseling. She will work with students through individual, small group, and classroom counseling lessons. Mrs. Hovey is the Co-Coordinator for the Career Connections Fair, and is the Coordinator for the PSAT and ACT Testing.
Ms. Hovey attended Ohio University for her undergraduate degree in Psychology. She then attended Kent State University for her graduate degree in School Counseling.

Miss Arica Zimmer is a part-time school/college counselor. She will lend extra support to students that need assistance with personal, social, academic, and career counseling. Miss Zimmer is the co-coordinator of the PSAT and ACT exams, as well as the coordinator for the College Fair.
Miss Zimmer graduated from John F. Kennedy Catholic High School in Warren, OH. She attended Walsh University for her undergraduate degree in Psychology and Sociology. She then continued her education at Walsh, where she earned her graduate degree in School Counseling while also working in Walsh University’s Office of Student Affairs.
Our college guidance counselors are Lauren Taylor and Malia Miller. Our college counselors meet with our Junior students in the classroom and in their office to prepare them for the college search and application process. They work with our Senior students individually, in small groups and the classroom to make sure they are on track with their college applications. They also conduct a Junior Parent night and Financial Aid night every year for students and their families.
Mrs. Malia Miller earned a Bachelor of Science degree in English Education from Bowling Green State University and a Master of Arts in Counseling and Human Development from Walsh University. She also earned National Board Certification through NBPTS. She is an adjunct faculty member at Stark State College and Malone University in addition to her work at STVM. She has 30 years experience as a professional school counselor.
Mrs. Lauren Taylor is a 1976 graduate of Holy Name High School in Cleveland, Ohio. After high school, Mrs. Taylor attended Kent State University, where she received her BS in ELED/LD/BD in 1980 and her MA in Education/School Counseling in 1991. She was employed from 1980-2012 by Akron Public Schools, the last 10 as a counselor at Garfield High School. Mrs. Taylor has three sons, two who are married and one who is currently attending The University of Toledo.
After earning her Bachelor's degree, Mrs. Calhoun worked in International Business for many years. She changed careers and received her Master's in Speech-Language Pathology (Speech Therapy) in 2001. She has since worked with adults and children in a variety of settings ranging from long term care, outpatient clinics and home health care, to public and private schools. She lives in Akron and is a member of St. Vincent de Paul Church and her son attends St. Vincent de Paul Elementary School.

Mrs. Donna Baker joined the STVM staff in 2013. She and her husband Jim live in Portage Lakes with their daughter Emily who is a VM13 graduate of St. Vincent-St. Mary.
