Community Service

Following Jesus' command to love one another, the STVM faith community comes together for two major community service projects: our annual canned food drive and our Adopt-A-Family program.

Our annual canned food drive brings in thousands of non-perishable food items in a class competition. These food items are then distributed to the Women's Auxiliary of the St. Vincent de Paul program at St. Vincent Parish to help feed those in need within our own local community and the Akron-Canton Regional Food bank so as to help feed the community at-large.

Our Adopt-A-Family program allows students and staff alike to "create Christmas" for needy families throughout the greater Akron area. Items such as clothing, toys bicycles, and housewares fill the hallways of our school as our Peer Ministers spend countless hours wrapping these donated items.

Aside from these two major projects, students are also required to complete a total of 25 hours per year of community service in the following areas: Church/Parish; Community; the poor; and social justice.

Community Service Opportunities

x2VOL

In an effort to simplify and facilitate the Christian service documentation process, STVM is now using a platform called x2VOL--which is accessible through students' Naviance accounts.

Through x2VOL, students are able to record hours and have their hours verified electronically by a designated supervisor. Once hours are verified they will be reviewed by Mrs. Spinner--STVM Service Hours Coordinator for approval. Furthermore, students will have immediate, on demand access to record, view, and print completed service hours through their x2VOL account. Students can review volunteer submissions, see whether hours have been verified and accepted, respond to requests for additional information from Mrs. Spinner, and print a transcript of their completed hours. Students are also able to upload images and documents to supplement their service entry.
