    Ohio JCI Senate Charitaable and Education Foundation Scholarship

    Mensa Foundation

    Contestants do NOT have to be members of Mensa. The only requirement will be that winners will need to provide proof of enrollment in a degree program at an accredited institution of post-secondary education for the 2012-2013 school year (they do not need to know in advance what school they will attend). Awards will not be based on need, race, age, sex, or year of school (not just freshmen). The East Central Ohio Mensa group is comprised of Ashland, Carroll, Crawford, Columbiana, Holmes, Mahoning, Medina, Portage, Richland, Stark, Summit, Trumbull, Tuscarawas and Wayne counties in Ohio. Residents of other areas may apply through their local-area Mensa group (use the website at #1 below to get the correct entry form if in doubt). Contestants will submit an essay of up to 550 words describing their career, vocational, or academic goals. Judging will emphasize a goal statement that includes specific information on experience or steps taken toward the goal, persuasiveness (e.g., how your past achievements/experiences and your future planning increase the probability of reaching your goal); why you think that you will succeed; and also grammar, spelling, and punctuation. There are three ways to get an entry form: 1) Go to http://www.mensafoundation.org/scholarships . Follow the US scholarship program/ scholarship application links and enter your zip code. If your zip code is in a participating area, the next page will offer you a link to an entry form (2 pages), which you can print. Instructions for scholarship programs specifically for Mensa members will also appear at this website. 2) Send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to Mensa Foundation Scholarships, P.O. Box 5794, Akron, OH 44372-5794 by December 15, 2011, to receive a copy of the entry form in the mail.


    Tradition of Caring Nursing Scholarship

    Two nonrenewable scholarships will be awarded to one male and female student. They must have played CAA sports. Applicants that played multiple sports for multiple years will be favored over applicants that participated in few sports for fewer years. Must have officiated, coached or otherwise served the needs of CAA beyond playing sports. Must have participated in high school sports. Must have played multiple sports for several years.
