Criteria for Membership
Juniors and seniors who have achieved at least a 3.5 accumulative grade point average will be notified in October of their eligibility for membership and procedures to follow if they would like to pursue the selection process. New members will be selected by the faculty during a review process that evaluates their character, leadership and service to the school and community. A faculty council appointed by the Headmaster makes the final selection of students based on teacher reviews.
National Honor Society's "Books for the Bahamas" Project Surpasses Goal

National Honor Society says “Thank you, STVM Community” for the inspiring results of our annual “Books for the Bahamas” children’s book drive. With books and money for books donated, our final tally reached approximately 5,300 books.
NHS members asked students and staff to donate new or gently used children's books to be contributed to the Bahamas Library Project. Elementary schools on some of the impoverished islands there do not have libraries or have libraries badly damaged by the recent Hurricane Irene, so these books will help the schools to build library collections. Elijah Justice, NHS vice-president, was in charge of the project, assisted by fellow officers Alex Pianalto, Abbey Bashor, and John Friess and advisor Ms. Pam Godshalk.
Math tutor Mr. Paul Wagner helps coordinate the shipping and delivery of the books to the Bahamas. In the “doughnut day” competition the winning homerooms were Seniors—Mrs. Anderson; Juniors—Mr. Brownfield; Sophomores—Mr. Taha; Freshmen—Mrs. McElhaney; and Special Homerooms—Mrs. DeGrand. Almost every homeroom contributed at least a few books or money. The National Honor Society is very grateful to the STVM community for their generosity.
