STVM Athletic Director, Willie McGee VM03 Honored in Washington, DC for BMe
St. Vincent-St. Mary High School Athletic Director and alum, Willie McGee VM03, was given the special honor of being selected as a BMe Leader Award Recipient. Mr. McGee traveled to Washington, DC in late May for a conference held by BMe and will receive his actual BMe Leadership Award on June 23rd in Akron.
STVM's Fiona Gaffney Honored by the Cleveland Council on World Affairs
The Cleveland Council on World Affairs gives out three academic scholarships to students who participate in one or more of the CCWA Model U.N. simulations. Students must also submit an essay and submit a letter of recommendation from an advisor. STVM's Fiona Gaffney was awarded one of these scholarships. Congratulations to Fiona! STVM Boys 4x200 Relay Team Brings Home Another State Championship
STVM track and field athletes went down to Columbus on June 2, qualifying in 6 different events. They placed on the podium in five of those events and brought home gold in the boys 4x200 Relay. STVM Spanish Students Travel to Costa Rica and Donate Books to San Rafael Elementary School in Peñas Blancas
St. Vincent-St. Mary Spanish students donate children's story books every school year. This year, they traveled to Costa Rica and were able to visit one of the school's that benefit from their donations. On May 23, 2016 at the Akron Civic Theatre the STVM Class of 2016 received their diplomas and joined the company of over 18,000 alumni at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School! We would like to congratulation the Class of 2016 and we wish them well in all of their future endeavors.
Track & Field Teams Take Second at Districts, Advance to Regionals
The STVM Boys and Girls Track teams both placed second at the District competition this past weekend. Both teams advance to regionals at Austintown Fitch High School on Thursday, May 26. Regional championship races will be on Saturday, May 28. Click the link below for more details.
STVM Baseball Wins 14th District Championship After Defeating Norton 4-2 in the Finals
The Fighting Irish baseball team won the program's 14th District Championship on Thursday after defeating the Norton Panthers 4-2. They now move on to the Division II Hudson Regionals and will play Chagrin Falls in the semi-finals on Thursday, March 26 at 2:00 at the Ballpark at Hudson. Click the link below to read more!

STVM Students Excel at Inaugural Power of the Pen Competition
On Saturday, May 14, seven students from St. Vincent-St.Mary competed at the first annual Power of the Pen writing competition. The event consisted of both JV and Varsity teams from over 39 schools in Summit, Stark, and Cuyahoga counties. Click the link below for more details.
Marathon Push Chair Teammates Andre & Zeke Speak to Freshman Theology Students
Andre Travis & Zeke Petrie were here on Friday, May 13 speaking to all of the Freshman Theology classes. In 2013 Andre & Zeke were the first push-chair team to complete the Akron Marathon. Mr. Dave Dages invites them to speak to the freshman every year about how anything is possible especially with God.
STVM Science Students Excel at State Science Day in Columbus
State Science Day was held on May 14th, 2016 at The Ohio State University. A team of 19 students from St. Vincent-St. Mary High School qualified to attend. Out of the 16 students attending, 8 scored the highest rating of superior.

The Fighting Irish Are Heading to State, Again!
Our STVM Science Inquiry Team had 19 students qualify for the 68th annual Ohio State Science Day this Saturday, May 14th in Columbus, Ohio. State Science Day is the academic equivalent of a state athletic championship and this year’s event is one of the largest of its kind in the nation.
STVM's Rocketry Program Set to Compete at Nationals in The Plains, Virginia
This weekend St. Vincent- St. Mary’s Rocketry Program will again be participating in the Team America Rocketry Challenge (TARC) at Great Meadow in The Plains, Virginia. TARC is the world’s largest student rocket contest and a key piece of the aerospace and defense industry’s strategy to build a stronger U.S. workforce in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

STVM Freshman Accepted into University of Hawaii Chinese Program
Congratulations to Freshman Ryan Smith for acceptance in this summer's STARTALK intensive Chinese program at the University of Hawai'i, Manoa. Ryan is one of only 20 students from around the Nation to be selected for this three week program funded by the National Security Language Initiative.
Akron Beacon Journal Features STVM's Garden Project
A new garden in West Akron is designed to feed more than mouths. It’s also intended to feed minds. The garden will serve as an outdoor classroom and living laboratory, a place where students from St. Vincent-St. Mary High School can learn about food, the politics surrounding it and the environmental impact of growing it.
