Congratulations to the Track and Field State Qualifiers

The STVM Track and Field program had an outstanding regional tournament this past week at Lexington High School. The following team members have qualified for this weekend's state track and field championships at Jesse Owens Stadium on the campus of the Ohio State University:
Girls 4x800 relay of Emily Tomei, Samantha Kirk, Tessa Weigand, and Maria Arnone, placed first with a time of 9:25.22.
Boys 4x800 relay of Pat O'Brien, Sean Poholski, Ian Walsh, and Jacob Swords finished third with a time of 7:59.05.
In the 110M hurdles, Doran Grant finished 2nd with a time of 14.48.
Girls 4x200M Relay the team of Nashay Willis, Jen Murray, Chelsea Laury, and Erica Hutson finished second with a time of 1:43.68.
Boys 4x200M relay team of Sae'von Fitzgerald, Matt Matuska, Carrington Glenn, and Doran Grant finished second with a time of 1:29.14.
Boys 4x100M relay team of Mark Murphy, Daryl Hughes, Sae'von Fitzgerald, and Doran Grant finished in fourth place with a time of 43.30.
Girls 400M Dash, Erica Hutson placed in first place and Tessa Weigand placed in fourth.
Girls 800M run Emily Tomei finished in third place with a time of 2:17.32.
Boys 800M run Jacob Swords finished in third place with a time of 1:54.86.
Girls 200M dash Erica Hutson placed first with a time of 25.82.
Girls 4x400M relay team of Tessa Weigand, Chelsea Laury, Emily Tomei, and Erica Hutson finished first with a time of 3:58.26.
Congratulations to these athletes who also competed at the Lexington Regional, but did not qualify for the state tournament:
In the girls 100M dash: Kyla Crater and Nashay Willis

In the boys 200M dash: Sae'von Fitzgerald
In the girls 3200M run: Marissa Rossetti and Anna Mion
In the boys 4x400M relay: Matt Matuska, Carrington Glenn, Sean Poholski, and Jacob Swords
In the girls discus throw: Emily Tomei
Overall, the girls team placed second in the regional meet with 82 points while the boys team finished in a tie for fifth with 38 points. There will be a state send-off assembly for the track and field team at 8:00am on Thursday June 3rd. The team will then head off to the state track and field championships at Jesse Owens Stadium in Columbus on June 4th and 5th.
