Science Students Shine at NEOSEF

St. Vincent- St. Mary students stand out at the Northeastern Ohio Science and Engineering Fair. The fair was held this week, March 15th- 18th, at Cleveland State University. There were roughly 680 students from 90 schools participating, the largest turnout the fair has ever seen. STVM’s 9 students participating all placed in 1st,2nd or 3rd place. First place winners were Sophomore- John Friess, Junior- Oliver Hidlebrandt and Senior- Abby Tanner. Second place winners were Senior- Renee Horn, Junior- Katya Lyuksyutova and Junior- Joey Miller. Third place winners were Senior- Kindelan Huber, Senior-Olivia Walter and Junior- Jon Stone.
The following students also won special awards from the following associations: John Friess- ASMI - Cleveland Chapter, CSU - Fenn College of Engineering, ASM Materials Education Foundation, Renee Horn- Cleveland Clinic - Lerner Research Institute, Kindelan Huber- American Chemical Society - Cleveland Section, Katya Lyuksyutova- Trustee Award for an Outstanding Project, Joey Miller- Society of Plastics Engineers, CSU - Department of Chemistry, Abigail Tanner- CSU- Fenn College of Engineering, Cleveland Clinic - Lerner Research Institute, Olivia Walter- CSU - Fenn College of Engineering, Parker Hannifin Corporation, U.S. Metric Association.
Congratulations go out to all of these students; all of the time and hard work that they put into their science inquiry projects is not going unnoticed.
Come see these nine students plus an additional 19 students from STVM this Saturday, March 20th, as they compete at the district fair, at The University of Akron, on their quest to get to states.
