Recap of STVM Athletic Highlights from this Weekend
•Congratulations to the competition cheerleading squad who finished in third place in the State Championship this weekend at Pickerington High School. Congratulations to all the girls on the cheerleading squad who have done a great job representing the Irish all year!
•It was a great finish for our wrestling team at the OHSAA state wrestling championships as both Junior Ray Stone and Freshman Michael Rix represented the Irish. Michael Rix placed fourth in the state meet! Congratulations to all the wrestlers and coach Anthony Gary on a great season.
•STVM sent an individual female bowler to the state championship this weekend in Chillicothe, OH. Senior Rachel Dedinsky qualified for the state tournament and finished in 40th place out of 138 bowlers. Congratulations to Rachel and Coach Ron Winer on an outstanding season.
•The STVM Boy’s Basketball team defeated Canal Fulton Northwest on Saturday night in the OHSAA Sectional Final by a score of 72-56. The team advances to Wednesday’s District Semi-Final game on Wednesday night, March 10th at 8:00pm. The team will take on Kenmore and the game will be played at the Canton Fieldhouse.
Tickets are On Sale Now!
•Pre-sale tickets for Wednesday’s Boys Basketball District Semi-Final game are on sale now in the STVM athletic department. Pre-sale tickets are $6.00 for adults and $4.00 for students. 40% of all pre-sale tickets go back to the STVM athletic department, so we do appreciate you buying your tickets in advance. The game is on Wednesday March 10th, at 8:00pm. The boys will take on Kenmore High School and the game will be played at the Canton Fieldhouse.
•If the boys win on Wednesday, it will set up the much anticipated showdown with Akron Buchtel High School in the District Championship on Saturday March 13th. Athletic Director Andy Jalwan will be selling tickets to this game immediately following the conclusion of the district semi-final on Wednesday night at the Canton Fieldhouse. Look for him in the tunnel underneath the stands.
Winter Sports Award Nights
•The awards night recognizing varsity letter winners on this year’s bowling and wrestling teams will be held on Tuesday March 16th at 6:00pm. Dessert and refreshments will be served.
•The awards night recognizing our boys and girls basketball teams, cheerleaders, and athletic trainers will be held on Thursday April 1 at 6:00pm. Dessert and refreshments will be served.
