Family & Memorial Scholarship Program

Endowment Board Unveils New Family & Memorial Scholarship Wall Display In Honor of M. Teri Lynch V70

There was additional reason to celebrate at Showcase 25 on October 23, 2010. The STVM Endowment Board dedicated the new Family & Memorial Scholarship Program wall display which is located in the STVM Student Center. Fr. Berardi V51 was on hand to bless the display. The wall display contains pictures and recipients lists for the academic year 2010-2011 as well as a podium with details about past recipients for each scholarship.

The idea for a scholarship wall goes back a number of years and ties directly to M. Teri Lynch, St. Vincent Class of 1970. She strongly believed in proudly sharing the strength of our scholarship program and the many, many students who are helped each year to attain and to afford a Catholic education at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School. We are thankful to Teri for her leadership and vision with regards to Endowment and scholarships. She is greatly missed and this project is dedicated to Teri in loving memory.

Through the new wall display we memorialize those to whom the scholarships are dedicated, we honor those who generously fund these scholarships, and we recognize the worthy student recipients. We also celebrate in a special way the strength and size of our scholarship program. This is a great accomplishment and we have the largest scholarship program of any high school in the region.

A special thank you is extended to Don Utrup M56, Endowment Board Past President and Scholarship Committee Chair, for his vision and passionate pursuit of this project, to the STVM Endowment Board, to the STVM Development Office, and to PFI Displays (The Tricomi Family). If you have not yet seen the new Family & Memorial Scholarship wall display, please stop by school.

Career Connections

STVM Career Connections "It's the real thing!"

St. Vincent-St. Mary hosted its Annual Career Connections for the 2010-2011 academic year on Wednesday, November 3, 2010. The seniors and juniors enjoyed having the opportunity to talk one-on-one with professionals about their upcoming college and career choices.

This program is an ideal opportunity for our students to learn about a variety of careers, while introducing area employers to potential interns and future employees.

“We were grateful to all alumni and friends who participated. This is one event that will help our students ‘be all that they can be’ by putting them in touch with professionals from various careers,” said Emily Knapp, School Counselor. Representatives were here from Engineering, Medical, Dental, Veterinary, Legal, Banking, Sales, Business, Management, Architecture, Finance, Education, Journalism and Graphic Design professions.

If you are interested in sharing your wisdom and knowledge with our students as a mentor for next year’s Career Connections, please contact Tom Carone VM77, Chief Operating Officer, at 330-253-9113 x 142 or visit www.stvm.com to complete the form.

STVM Alumni/Donors at The University of Akron InfoCision Stadium

All eyes were smiling for the Green & Gold at The University of Akron’s InfoCision Stadium on Saturday, September 25th. The Development Department hosted nearly 70 guests in the Presidential Suite thanks to the generosity of Ann and David Brennan who donated it once again for this year’s Holy War.

“We are grateful to Ann and Dave Brennan for giving the STVM Development Department this wonderful opportunity to host so many of our generous benefactors."
The Fighting Irish Cheerleaders stopped by the lobby for a special presentation for our guests prior to the game.

The Class of 2011 has enjoyed victories over rival Archbishop Hoban High School for the past four years. As the records go, though, each school shares 17 victories. Next year’s game will be the tie breaker! Go Irish!
