A Letter From Joanne Zaratsian, Director of Major Gifts

Dear Friends,

It is time for graduation and summer is nearly here. We wish the Class of 2010 well as they prepare to leave us to continue their education at universities and colleges across the country. (Please be sure to see the Admissions news from Joanne Wiseman on page 3.)

We are currently in the midst of our Green & Gold Annual Appeal as we conduct the phon-a-thon from May 12th through June 15th. Thanks to all of you who have made contributions to this year’s appeal! There is still time to make your Green & Gold gift to qualify for the Shamrock Society before the fiscal year ends June 30, 2010.

Several alumni – many of them Shamrock Society members – volunteered their time to sign letters to their classmates and help prepare the Green & Gold mailing. We are most grateful to all who helped.

The Annual Shamrock Society Mass of Thanksgiving is scheduled for Friday, September 3, 2010 just before the Fighting Irish vs. Akron North season opener. I hope you will mark your calendars now to join us. We are very excited to recognize all donors who contributed to the Share the Vision Capital Campaign and we will unveil the permanent Share the Vision Donor Wall during the reception.

This past year, the school community lost a wonderful friend and benefactor when Ralph Bernard, Sr. passed away. I am pleased and proud to report that Ralph Bernard, Jr. plans to continue his parents’ legacy with his commitment to sponsor the $25,000 Scholarship Matching gift for the upcoming Showcase 25 Silver Anniversary celebration on October 23rd!

As we all have experienced, the past few years have been very difficult due to the struggling economy. We thank God for our many blessings, most especially the blessing of our wonderful Shamrock Society members. We could not continue without your generosity. During these difficult times, our community has pulled together, determined to continue the school’s commitment to providing an excellent Catholic education now and in the future.
