2009-2010 Car Raffle Shifts Into Overdrive

Annual fundraiser nets $90, 600

The eighth Annual Irish Family Car Raffle’s grand prize drawing was held during half time of the St. Vincent St. Mary Fighting Irish Boys Varsity Basketball game on Saturday, February 13, 2010. The Irish weren’t the only victors this evening, defeating Whitney Young 79-64! Chief Operating Officer Tom Carone VM77, along with Major Gift Officer Joanne Zaratsian, Alumni Director Kathy Zehenni Holaday VM77 and Special Event Coordinator Jennifer Ringer all assisted with the drawing.

On hand for the drawing was famed Irish announcer Gary Johnson who broadcasted the winners with great enthusiasm: Grand Prize Winner of the 2010 Chevy Malibu is Denise Nelson; Second Prize Winner of the Large Screen TV is Leo Stadler VM73; Third Prize Winner of the $500 Circle K Cards is Maria Stewart. Denise Nelson purchased her winning ticket from freshman, Matt Uphouse, Leo Stadler purchased his winning ticket from freshman, daughter RosaLia Stadler, and Maria Stewart purchased her ticket from her granddaughter, junior Jessica Papczun.

This year’s Irish Family Car Raffle was another whopping success raising approximately $90,600.00! “Our thanks go out to Bob and Kathy Serpentini and Serpentini’s Chevy Connection for donating a car for the 8th consecutive year. We are so blessed that Bob has continued to support us during this difficult economy. We appreciate Serpentini’s Chevy Connection for its continuous support. Also, special thanks to Mary Lou and John Ballard and Family for donating the Large Screen TV and thanks to Jerry Kelly for donating the Circle K Gas Cards. We are grateful to the entire Irish family – Alumni & Friends, Students and Parents, Teachers and Staff – for supporting this year’s raffle. The Alumni & Friends mailing generated approximately $23,000 in sales toward the grand total of $90,600.00,” noted Joanne Zaratsian.
