Welcome to the online home of the Center for Science and Technology at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School. The Center, which opened in the fall of 2004, is the culmination of years of planning and hard work to build STVM into a premeir center for inquiry-based learning using start-of-the-art technology. The unique science inquiry method of teaching is helping our students develop vital problem solving and critical thinking skills. The new Center for Science and Technology is unlike any other area facility because it features a Distance Learning Lab that enables our students to participate in a much more interactive, hands-on manner, as they perform experiments and analyze data, while collaborating with other students and researchers worldwide. The new Center also features an Inquiry Lab, an Internet Research Lab and a Computer Writing Lab outfitted with the latest technology. Within the Center, STVM students will gain information and technology literacy thereby surpassing the National Education Technology Standards (NETS). National Publication Recognizes STVM for Innovative TechnologyThe national publication, “Today’s Catholic Teacher,” has for the 10th consecutive year selected schools for awards in the area of innovative technology. St. Vincent-St. Mary is one of only 12 schools in the country to be selected. STVM was recognized and awarded for the Center of Science & Technology facility as well as the advancements that we have made in the area of “innovative projects in curriculum and instruction. The awards banquet was held on April 12, 2007 and representatives of the school attended the banquet in Baltimore to receive the award. [ Back to Top ]
