Campus Expansion In order for St. Vincent-St. Mary High School to remain competitive in attracting the best and brightest students, we must expand our campus. Because we are committed to developing the body, as well as the mind, we understand that athletics and extra-curricular activities are a vital part of any high school experience. More than 80 percent of our current student body is involved in some type of extra-curricular activity, while 50 percent participate in more than one. This influx of activity has made it difficult for all our teams to get adequate practice time and valuable team-building experience. An expanded facility would also meet the needs of students who are involved in other types of extra-curricular activities. Community events and after-hours programs, which we are currently not able to accommodate, would now be possible. An expanded campus would also give us critically needed swing space, so we can renovate other areas of our existing facility and plan for future growth. In addition, a new Student Activities Center would provide STVM with a notable Market Street presence and contribute to the City of Akron's beautification plans and neighborhood renovations. The acquisition of additional land adjacent to our school has enabled us to revise our previous expansion plans to better meet the needs of all our students. We are currently developing plans to address our current needs, as well as anticipated needs over the next 10 to 15 years.
