> OUR PROUD TRADITION
  As two of the oldest parish high schools in Akron, both St. Vincent and St. Mary played a vital role in educating the children of the Akron community. The two merged in 1972 to form St. Vincent-St. Mary High School.
  Our Mission: In the spirit of the Gospel, we are committed to educate the whole person to lead and to serve: enlightening the mind, developing the body, touching the heart and inspiring the soul.

> OUR GRADUATES

155 Graduates; 97% college-bound; 68% offered scholarships; over $6.4 million in scholarship/grant money received; two National Merit Scholarship Finalists; two National Merit Commended Scholars; one National Merit Hispanic Scholar.

> OUR ACHIEVEMENTS
  Here are a few recent achievements:
  In 2003, STVM and The University of Akron formed Partners in Progress to advance science education.
  First high school to be named “School of the Month” by Today’s Catholic Teacher magazine, a national publication.
  Winner of the Harold C. Shaw Award Outstanding School Award at State Science Day in 2000, 2002 and 2005.

  In 2006-2007:
 

• 2 National Merit Commended Scholars; 2 National Merit Finalists; 1 National Merit Special Scholarship Winner.

• College Acceptance: 94% accepted at first choice college; 96% college bound

• Mu Alpha Theta mathematics honorary: 19 students inducted

• Religious Studies: 144 students became Peer Ministers; 38 students inducted as Eucharistic Ministers

• School-wide Outreach activities: Adopt-a-Baby, Adopt-a-Family, Educate the Congo , local Food Banks (11,732 cans collected.)

• Nazareth Farm Mission Trip: 8 seniors completed home improvement projects for the needy in West Virginia

• National Honor Society: 49 new members inducted

• Science: Inquiry students awarded 12 Superior and 7 Excellent ratings at the Ohio Academy of Science District competition. Twelve students advanced to the State Science Day competition.

• Music Department: 15 Superior ratings and 12 Excellent ratings at the OMEA District Solo and Ensemble Contest.

• Marching Band: “Best Overall” at Akron St. Patrick’s Day parade.

• Boys Basketball: State Final Four, District Champions, Regional Champions

• Wrestling: State Champion-Brian Dean; State runner-up- Jamey Shrock

• Softball: District Semi-Finalists

•Girls’ Soccer: District finalists; Team Academic All-Americans

 

> OUR STUDENT BODY
  650 students.
  Teacher/student ratio averages one classroom teacher per 19 students.

> STUDENTS REACHING OUT
STVM students are involved in service to those in our community –– and beyond. Here are just a few recent activities:
  Our French Club sponsors the Educate the Congo project by collecting gently used educational items for children, which are used to set up community learning centers.
  Our Adopt-a-Baby program raised $1,200.
  Students volunteer weekly at the Ronald McDonald House.

> OUR LEADERSHIP AND ACCREDITATION
  Locally owned and operated by a Board of Trustees, in cooperation with the administrative team, faculty, parents and support organizations, and operates with the blessing and guidance of the Diocese of Cleveland.
  St. Vincent-St. Mary High School meets all standards of the Ohio Catholic School Accreditation Association, North Central Accreditation Association and the State of Ohio.
