Your Future Begins Here
At STVM, our students are part of a rich history
of educational excellence grounded in our Catholic faith.
On average, 98 percent of our graduates pursue
baccalaureate studies at public and private universities, with nearly
50 percent of each year’s senior class receiving college scholarships
or grants. In 2007, ninety-six percent of our graduating class
continued their education in college. Sixty percent received scholarships
and grants totaling nearly $6.5 million.
> OUR CURRICULUM
AND COURSE OFFERINGS
Our comprehensive, college preparatory curriculum provides our students
with a strong academic and religious foundation that prepares them
for college and beyond. Our curriculum includes Honors, Advanced
Placement, College Preparatory and Basic level classes. Our innovative
Partners
in Progress program with The University of Akron is advancing
science education, while providing our students with access to university
resources. Our teacher/student ratio averages one classroom teacher
per 19 students. Recommended
requirements for graduation and course selections encourage
our students to challenge themselves and make the most of their
high school experience.
> ADVANCING
WITH TECHNOLOGY
Our innovative science
inquiry method of teaching and our state-of-the-art Center
for Science & Technology provide our students with an environment
that fosters critical thinking and problem solving skills. We also
recognize the important role that technology plays in our students’
education beyond our science curriculum. STVM is a center for technology
where computers and other technological advances are integrated
into the educational process, rather than only offered in isolated
computer classes. This enables our students to gain information
and technology literacy to surpass the National Education Technology
Standards (NETS).
Through wireless technology, we use LearnStar,
an interactive education software program that operates on handheld
devices. We were one of the first schools in the area to put homework
assignments and grades online. This helps our students “own”
their education and actively participate in the process.
> CO-CURRICULAR
ACTIVITIES AND ATHLETICS
A diverse mix of co-curricular
activities and athletics
rounds out our curriculum. All activities provide an opportunity
for students to hone their leadership skills, foster teamwork, learn
self-discipline and excel according to their talents and interests.
> SHARE THE
VISION FOR STVM
STVM is in the midst of one of the most exciting times in our school’s
history — a $20 million capital
campaign to build the facilities our students deserve and to
maintain the high educational standards from which all of our students
benefit.
