A faculty council selected these students based on their accumulative point averages (a minimum 3.5) and faculty evaluations of their character, leadership, and service to the school and community. National Honor Society Induction: Monday, November 19, 2007.

Juniors and seniors with a 3.5 or higher accumulative GPA are eligible for National Honor Society and will be notified the first week of October of the steps they must take if they wish to be considered for membership. Membership is determined by a faculty selection process. NHS membership is not determined by grades alone. Equally important are three other traits recognized by the national organization as necessary criteria for membership: character, leadership, and service to the school and community. To be selected for membership, a student must be judged by the faculty to be exceptional (above average) in all three of these categories as well as to have at least a 3.500 accum.

Books for the Bahamas Project: October 1-19, 2007

This October National Honor Society is sponsoring its second “Books for the Bahamas” Project throughout the school.  Working in collaboration with a few other high schools in Ohio, NHS members will be collecting new or gently used children's books to send to Andros Island in the Bahamas.  These books will then be placed in libraries throughout the severely impoverished island.  If anyone would rather donate money to purchase books, NHS members will collect the money and purchase the books. After the books are collected NHS members will sort them into age and classification categories and label them as a "gift from the students and staff of St. Vincent - St. Mary High School.”  Then the books will be shipped to the Bahamas by an organization with which Mr. Paul Wagner, math tutor, is affiliated.  NHS representatives will be going into homerooms from October 1 through October 19 to promote this book drive.  The homeroom in each grade who brings in the most books will be awarded with a “doughnuts day.” Anyone else in the STVM community is also invited to donate books. Books can be brought to Ms. Godshalk or Mrs. Wood in the LRC where there is a display.
