NATIONAL PUBLICATION
RECOGNIZES STVM FOR INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGY
The national publication, “Today’s Catholic Teacher,” has for the 10th consecutive
year selected schools for awards in the area of innovative technology.
St. Vincent-St. Mary is one of only 12 schools in the country to be selected. STVM was recognized and awarded for the Center of Science & Technology facility as well as the advancements that we have made in the area of “innovative projects in curriculum and instruction.”
The awards banquet was held on April 12, 2007 and representatives of the school attended the banquet in Baltimore to receive the award.
ARCHITECTURE IS….
Mark Cook VM07 was awarded first place in the high school category of the Akron Chapter of the American Institute of Architects “Architecture is....” essay contest for his poem entitled, Architecture Is. Mark received a fifty dollar savings bond and a T-shirt at the recognition dinner on Tuesday, May 22, 2007. Three additional seniors received Honorable Mention as well as t-shirts: Cali Roth, Allison Oborn, and Katie Sickels.
SCIENCE INQUIRERS
GO STRAIGHT TO STATE
For nearly 60 years—and now with more than 50,000 alumni—State Science Day is the pinnacle of student originated, inquiry-based science education for Ohio’s students. The academic equivalent of a State athletic championship, this year’s event was the largest of its kind in the nation.
The event was hosted at Ohio State University on May 12, 2007. More than 1,000 students from nearly 300 schools were evaluated this year on their scientific research and communication skills. These students competed for more than 100 different scholarships and awards valued at more than $1,500,000.
Congratulations to the following STVM students whose inquiry projects received
“Superior” or “Excellent” ratings at this year’s State Science Day: Tyler Chopko, Kelsey Lecerf, Jill Brownfield, Colleen Demboski, Jessica Bridenthal, James Lloyd, Joe Askew, and Allison Oborn.

Science
Science classes are scheduled one period daily for class, plus additional periods for science labs. All science courses require the completion of an individual "Science Inquiry Activity" and research papers. Our state-of-the art Center for Science and Technology provides STVM students with a unique learning opportunity.
